Glacier Bay's Bear Track Inn

My wife and I spent three nights at Bear Track Inn during our AK adventure. The lodge, property and service was all top notch. This is a family owned and operated lodge with the owners actively involved in every aspect of our stay. Michelle was very responsive with all my questions and got us booked for our tours in advance of our stay that included whale watching, fresh water fishing and glacier bay tour it was all very seamless. Hiking - the 100+ acres is truly magnificent and have maintained trails that provide an opportunity to walk out the front door and step into the wilderness in a matter of minutes. We have been very fortunate to have spent several days with Janie, David and Michelle Olney, owners of the Glacier Bay Bear Track Inn. The staff is very friendly & attentive to your every need. They are prepared with suggestions on activities tailored to your particular interests or your goals. The chef has an array of mouthwatering recipes to tempt your palate at every meal. The rooms are very clean, well appointed and quiet to help you relax. Reluctantly we must move on from this beautiful scenery which relaxes our minds and spirits!

We had a fantastic time here at Bear Track Inn! All our needs were taken care of efficiently and professionally. Our rooms were clean and we had everything we needed for the week. I cannot express how wonderful every staff member was. I highly recommend you stay here for your next Alaskan adventure.

Wow! If you want a quintessential Alaska experience, look no further than the Bear Track Inn. The setting is the perfect combination of remote and cozy comfortable. Dave and Michelle are incredible hosts. This is a family run eco-friendly business surrounded by friendly and knowledgeable staff and chefs that serve up incredible food. This is hospitality at its best!!! Of course you come for the incredible setting and it doesn't disappoint; glaciers, hiking, whales, eagles, puffins, bear, moose, otters and so much more are abundant. It's a magical place, run by wonderful people. After 4 days our entire family (including teenagers) didn't want to leave.

Really great location, amazing hosts, some of the best staff we’ve interacted with, wonderful hospitality! We did lots of memorable trips making Bear Track Inn our base, in the company of some really nice guests. Glacier Bay Lodge was a lot more busy by comparison. Our only suggestion for improvement would be to a bit more mindful of people with dietary restrictions for the dinner service, but the inn kept us well fed through the day. Breakfast, lunch, and even hors d'oeuvres were tailored to our preferences. They even made sure we had packed lunches for our tours! This place is truly special!

The Bear Track Inn was an amazing adventure. A beautifully crafted lodge which provided excellent food service and the overall creature comforts that you would expect from a top of the line 5 star facility. Janie, Michelle & Dave are the most gracious hosts!! Not only is the Bear Track Inn in a most beautiful setting but the inside is even lovelier!! The whole staff bent over backwards for every guest there. Whatever you needed they provided. The food was excellent and they were so helpful with all the day trips planning. Definitely recommend going there!!

I was not wanting to come on this trip but I am so so happy I came. This lodge is a 6 Star rating starting with service, amazing food and ability to make everyone happy. The owners are hands on with an eye for perfection. The newly addition for fresh water fishing was fun and exciting along with amazing views during hiking and bicycling. The experience is one that needs to be enjoyed!!

An unforgettable stay! The owners and staff were incredibly warm and welcoming—genuinely some of the friendliest people we’ve met. The lodge was spotless and comfortable, with a room that felt like home. The food was excellent, hearty, and full of local flavor. We also really appreciated the thoughtful service and spot-on recommendations for hikes and wildlife viewing. The setting was absolutely breathtaking—surrounded by untouched nature, with whales, bears and even a pod of orcas sighting! Every moment felt special. If you’re looking for an authentic Alaskan experience with top-notch hospitality, this is the place. Can’t recommend it enough!
